Shady Grove Staff
A native of Baltimore, I was raised in a Christian home where I was shielded by faith and encircled by prayer and saved at a young age. I married my beautiful kind-hearted wife Shannon, in college in 1997. Our son, Cleighton Luke, blesses us every day with his incredible wit, Godly wisdom, and caring compassion.
II graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UTA and a Doctorate degree in Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas.
Playing a variety of instruments in high school bands and orchestras as well as playing semi-professionally in a brass quintet formed my musical background.
After attending Shady Grove for 18 years, I answered a strong calling on my life to lead the music. I believe music needs to allow the worship experience the opportunity to be what it is designed to be: a privilege, duty, and joy to glorify Almighty God. Our music seeks to separate us from the world through refreshment and renewal of peace to our soul allowing our light to shine forth into the world.
I am a Fort Worth native and have lived in the area most of my life.
I grew up in and out of church. I attended Sunday school, children’s church and church camp but it wasn’t until I was 18 that I was saved, and the Lord changed my life forever.
After graduating Castleberry High school I crammed four years of college into six and graduated from Arlington Baptist College in 1997. While there I met my beautiful wife, Jeanette. We were married right after I graduated. God has blessed us with four wonderful children Jase, Jake, Jorja and Julia.
Over the past 20 plus years I have served in various ministry capacities: Jr. high, Sr. high, college, adult S.S. teacher, music minister and Sr. Pastor. In 2007, through Providence, I was led to SGBC where I was called as Student Pastor.
I believe my ministry is to prepare, and equip, teens (7th-12th grades) to be the people God has designed them to be. I believe it’s in Jesus that we find our identity and purpose and I teach this to the teens at SGBC to lead them into a deeper relationship with Him.

Pastor, Adult & Family Ministries
I was born in Ft Worth, Tx, but grew up mostly in Denton, Tx. I was saved when I was 14 yrs old, and I will never forget that day. Because I made a genuine decision to have Jesus Christ come into my heart and life at a young age, I realized how important it is to teach children about the love of Christ and His gift of salvation. My favorite verse is Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in a way he should go, and when he is old, he will will not depart from it.” Nothing brings more joy to my heart than being around children and watching them learn about the love that Christ has for them.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and Early Education from Arlington Baptist College in 1998. I married my college sweetheart, Jason, in 1997. God has blessed us with four beautiful children: Jase, Jake, Jorja, and Julia.
I have been on staff at Shady Grove Baptist Church since the summer of 2008. What I enjoy most about our church is the genuine love that our members have for one another, and for the incredible love that they have in Christ.
